The word visceral was used to describe how a car smashed into another car in a highway chase scene, but I didn't know what it meant, so I looked it up. Basically a "visceral feeling" is something you feel in your gut. Something so intense, so loud, so fast, so dangerous, so damn awesome you can feel it in your gut. At that moment all the comics I read, all the movies I had seen, all the music I listened to and all the games I had played came together in my head. That "visceral feeling" is something I'm always looking for, so the name seemed appropriate. It kind of changed to Whatisvisceral because nobody knew the word, or what it meant. So I changed it to whatisvisceral. Like the matrix website: whatisthematrix.com. I love gaming and I'm very fortunate to be able to study the art of making games and I'm very much looking forward to making a career out of it. When I was a little kid I was playing games before I could reach over the desk. I've seen and played a lot of consoles and a lot of games. I remember Wolfenstein, Doom and Descent coming out and rocking my world. I am also very happy that games seem to be growing up these days. Gaming is, in my opinion, the most powerful medium there is these days. It's interactive and the possibilities are endless. If the gamers and game designers work together we can make this the most powerful industry in the world, surpassing movies and television easily! But we need to embrace the positive aspects of games: interactivity, the ability for immensely complex story-lines, the possibilty of 2 or more people having the same experience side by side, the nearly real visuals, the possibility to not apply the rules of physics, the opportunity to learn our children something while they play and most of all the sheer pleasure a game can give you! |
